One Dead, Seven Injured in Oakland Shooting
One person was killed and seven were injured in a shooting in Oakland, California, on Monday, January 23, police said.
Officer Kim Armstead of the Oakland Police Department said the shooting occurred on the 5900 block of Macarthur Boulevard just after 6:00 pm and involved several people.
Officers were dispatched to the area after receiving a ShotSpotter activation, she said, a program that notifies authorities of gunshot sounds.

- The Oakland Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred this evening just past 6:00 PM in the 5900 block of MacArthur Boulevard. Officers were dispatched to the area to investigate the reports of a ShotSpotter activation. Upon arrival, they located a shooting scene, they located casings, but no victims. Shortly thereafter, our communications division received notification of multiple gunshot wound victims who self-transported to local hospitals in the area.
At this time, we are aware of eight gunshot wound victims. One of which, unfortunately, has succumb to their injuries, while the remaining seven are all listed in stable condition. This is an active investigation, as you can imagine, very fluid. We're asking anyone that may have witnessed this incident, that may have information or video pertaining to this shooting to please contact our department.
