One worker dead, two hospitalized after found unconscious in tanker trailer in Kansas

One man died and two others were hospitalized after being found unconscious inside a tanker trailer Friday morning at a truck wash in southwest Kansas, according to Liberal police.

The three men are all employees of Red Barn Truck Wash.

First responders were called just before 9 a.m. Friday. The three men were all found unconscious inside the tanker trailer.

They were taken to Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, police said in a news release.

One of the men died at the hospital, another was taken to a Wichita hospital and the third remained at the medical center.

Shortly after the incident, the business posted on Facebook that it would be closed “due to an accident here at Red Barn today.”

Later on Friday, the business shared a media report about the incident and said: “We are incredibly saddened by the event that happened this morning. We know many are wondering what happened or why, while we don’t have an answer at the moment, we are taking every precaution to make sure this will never happen again. We are praying for our employees & their families!”

Police said the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating the incident.
