What’s open and closed on July 4th: MS Coast garbage pickup, libraries, more

Several offices and services will be affected by the holiday.

Here’s what to expect over the following week.

GARBAGE COLLECTION

Harrison County:

For Waste Management household trash and recycling, all routes and services will run as scheduled on July Fourth and the rest of the week. Please, have carts at the curb by 6 a.m.

Jackson County:

The landfill will be closed July Fourth.

Garbage and trash collection will not be affected by the holiday. All routes will run as scheduled.

Waste Pro:

Garbage, trash and recycling will not run Thursday and will run a day behind for the rest of the week.

Coastal Environmental Services:

Diamondhead, Bay St. Louis, Waveland, unincorporated areas of Hancock County: Garbage pick up will run regular routes and schedules for the holiday, but their offices will be closed. Please, have carts out by 4 a.m. on the pick up day.

GOVERNMENT OFFICES

All government offices will be closed Thursday, July 4.

LIBRARIES

Hancock County Library Library System: All five branches will be closed Thursday and Friday. The libraries have a free online service with access to audiobooks, periodicals, movies and general information. Online services are available 24/7.

Harrison County Library System: All branches will be closed Thursday, July 4, through Sunday, July 7, and will reopen Monday.

Jackson-George Regional Library System: All branches will be closed Thursday, July 4. Branches will reopen Friday, July 5. Book drops will be open for returning items, and all online services will be available for cardholders’ renewals, holds, and e-services by visiting www.jgrls.org.

Pearl River County Library System: Closed Thursday for Independence Day. Branches will reopen Friday, July 5.

TRANSPORTATION

Coast Transit Authority: All fixed route buses will operate on a Sunday time schedule on Independence Day, July 4. Regular bus service will resume regular schedule on Friday, July 4.

The CTA office closed at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, and reopen at 8 a.m. onFriday, July 5. For additional information, call 228-896-8080 or visit www.coasttransit.com.
