Oregon's Bootleg Fire Grows to Over 150,000 Acres
The Bootleg Fire burning in southern Oregon was measured at 153,535 acres and remained zero percent contained late on Monday, July 12, according to officials.
After three days of explosive growth, which saw it spread 12 miles on July 10, the fire added 5,000 acres to its perimeter as fire crews were able to improve control lines, officials said.
Evacuations were ordered in several parts of Klamath County, and other communities were placed on high alert. Over 1,000 personnel have been involved in efforts to contain the blaze, which has been fueled hot weather, dry fuels, and low humidity.
