Oshawa man arrested after threats made against police

An Oshawa man was arrested after allegedly threatening to kill police officers in several Facebook posts.

Durham Regional Police said they were alerted to several Facebook posts and a video posted to the social networking site that threatened police officers.

After investigating, police identified a 22-year-old man and arrested him without incident at his home.

A Facebook page appearing to belong to the suspect contained a post about police arriving at his house.

"Cops who arent (sic) in uniform are at the door and they said they're arresting me for threats," the suspect posted.

The same account contains multiple threats against police, as well as rants on other topics.

"Anybody walks through my door forcefully and their family is suffering a loss," one post dated March 3 states.

"Honestly, cops in North America are all going to get slaughtered soon and I'll be at the forefront of it," says another post on the same day.

Police said the suspect has been charged with uttering threats and possession of a dangerous weapon.

He is being held in custody ahead of a bail hearing.
