Ottawa weather forecast calls for possible evening snow squall
It'll be pretty nice today in Ottawa-Gatineau, but CBC Ottawa climatologist Ian Black says he's tracking a snow squall that could hit the area late Thursday afternoon or in the early evening.
Thursday's forecast calls for mainly cloudy skies with a 30 per cent chance of flurries late in the morning and in the afternoon. Southwest winds will blow at about 20 km/h, gusting up to 40 km/h, with the temperature holding steady near zero C.
Black says the snow squall he's tracking could bring a quick 2 cm dump of wind-swept, slippery snow.
Thursday night should see a few flurries ending near midnight, giving way to mainly cloudy skies. The low is expected to reach –9 C.
Friday will be mainly sunny but a bit cooler, with a high of –5 C. More clouds are expected in the afternoon with northwest winds at 30 km/h.
Friday night should bring cloudy periods and a downright cold low of –15 C.
So far, the weekend also looks chilly. It'll be –8 C on Saturday and –7 C on Sunday.
