Outlander Prequel Now Will Follow Jamie’s and Claire’s Parents — Meet Blood of My Blood’s First Cast Members
Outlander fans are about to know Claire’s parents better than she ever did.
The focus of the Starz drama’s prequel, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, has changed, TVLine has learned. Though the new series originally was to center only on Jamie’s father and mother, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie, it now also will tell the saga of Claire’s folks, Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp.

“The series will center on these two parallel love stories set in two different time periods, with Jamie’s parents in the early 18th-century Scottish Highlands and Claire’s parents in WWI England,” the official logline reads.
As fans of the series know, Claire’s memories of her parents are hazy at best; Henry and Julia died in a car accident when their daughter was a young girl. She was raised by her uncle, Quentin Lambert Beauchamp, whom she called “Uncle Lamb.” Much more is known about Jamie’s mother and father, stories about whom are woven into several of the Diana Gabaldon novels on which Starz’s Outlander is based.
Per Starz, production on the 10-episode first season is underway in Scotland, and Blood of My Blood has found its core four. Jamie Roy (Condor’s Nest) will play Brian opposite Harriet Slater (Pennyworth) as Ellen, and Jeremy Irvine (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) and Hermione Corfield (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) will portray Henry and Julia, respectively.
In a statement, Outlander: Blood of My Blood showrunner/executive producer/writer Matthew B. Roberts said: “We’re thrilled to be telling the stories of these two couples. The origins of their relationships explore universal themes that transcend time periods and we’re so excited for fans to discover and fall in love with these characters and their love stories the way they have with Claire and Jamie.”
Blood of My Blood‘s EPs also will include Outlander‘s Ronald D. Moore and Maril Davis, and Gabaldon will serve as a consulting producer.
Starz ordered Outlander‘s first spinoff to series in January 2023. At the same time, the network announced that the original show would end with a 10-episode Season 8. Production on the final season is slated to begin soon in Scotland.
