P.E.I. retail sales hit another record

Retail sales on P.E.I. hit a record high in June for the eighth month in a row.

Seasonally adjusted figures for June, released by Statistics Canada Friday morning, were $181.8 million, up marginally from $181.5 million in May, but that was still enough to set another record.

There have been record sales in every month since November on the Island, part of an upward trend that dates back to March of 2015. Sales were $163.3 million in that month, making for an 11.3 per cent increase in the last 15 months.

Nationally retail sales were largely unchanged in June, and up 2.7 per cent over June of last year.
