Passenger killed driver in North Texas shooting that led to major crash, police say

A 29-year-old woman was killed in a shooting that led to a car crash Sunday night, according to Dallas police.

Chapeera Lee, the driver of the car, died at the scene, according to a news release from police. A 32-year-old passenger, Cortez Nute, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

Police said officers responded to the 3700 block of Inwood Road about 10:30 p.m. after calls about a major crash. When investigators with the traffic unit arrived, they realized based on physical evidence that the incident was a shooting.

Investigators determined Nute was the one who shot Lee and have since arrested him on a murder charge.
