Body of man, 20, found in Rivière des Prairies in Pierrefonds

The body of a 20-year-old man who fell into the Rivière des Prairies while posing for a photo has been found near the shoreline in Pierrefonds.

Anoshan Nagaswara slipped and tumbled into the fast-moving river on Sunday while on a date in a small park on Riviera Street Sunday evening.

Witnesses said Nagaswara, who was unable to swim, was last seen about 50 metres from the point where he fell in.

His body was spotted by a passerby on Wednesday afternoon Lalande Boulevard at Edward Street, Montreal police confirmed.

Firefighters pulled the man's body from the water a short time later, confirming its identity.

Relatives told CBC News earlier this week they'd learned from police that Nagaswara fell into the water while posing for a photo. The woman he was with ran along the riverbank, trying to follow him.
