Pemberton RCMP looking for truck that hit pedestrian, then drove off with them

Pemberton RCMP say they are looking for a white, late model Chevrolet truck that allegedly hit a pedestrian on Highway 99 and then drove off with the victim.

"The report was that a pickup truck had hit a pedestrian on the shoulder of the road," said Sgt. Rob Knapton with Whistler RCMP in a release. "The driver then stopped and got the pedestrian into the truck and drove away."

Knapton says another vehicle — a blue SUV — also pulled up beside the pickup and stopped.

The incident happened close to 11:15 a.m. PT on Saturday while witnesses told police that the pickup left the scene and headed north on Highway 99 near Portage Road.

Police say a search of the area and the local clinic turned up nothing related to the investigation.

"We are looking to identify and speak with the driver of [the blue SUV] or anyone who may have any information related to this incident," he said.
