PETA's 'sexy pizza gals' dish up free vegan slices in Winnipeg

What do free pizza, "sexy pizza gals," and PETA have in common? Why, animal rights, of course.

Three scantily clad women dressed up in pizza costumes representing the animal rights group handed out free vegan slices in downtown Winnipeg Wednesday afternoon.

Members of PETA held a sign that read "Cruelty free pizza" outside of Portage Place Mall at 12 p.m. The animal rights grouped referred to the women as "sexy pizza gals" in a release Wednesday.

The group issued a statement saying the demonstration was in response to a Manitoba Dairy Conference being held in Winnipeg this-coming weekend.

In the release PETA referenced an undercover investigation into Canada's dairy industry that revealed unethical treatment of certain animals at a B.C. dairy farm. The group said the results of that investigtion should be viewed as further incentive to take on a vegan lifestyle.

"With so many filling, mouth-watering vegan milks, cheeses, and yogurts available, it's time to give dairy products the boot," said PETA senior vice-president Lisa Lange in a release.

"Every person can help spare cows a lifetime of suffering as milk machines on filthy dairy farms by choosing one of the many restaurants now deliciously meeting the demand for top-quality vegan dishes."
