Planning commission rejects project to open up old gold mine in Nevada County

The plan to reopen the Idaho-Maryland gold mine near Grass Valley in Nevada County was voted down Thursday by the planning commission. The planning commission u unanimously rejected the proposal after hearing a lot of public comment and debate. Many residents also expressed concerns about the environmental impacts. However, this may come back for another vote. A spokesperson for the company behind the project told KCRA 3 that “we will consider improvements to our project that address the comments of the community.”
