Police make arrests for 2 separate robberies on northeast Avalon

Driver owing $20K in outstanding traffic fines arrested

Two people have been arrested by the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary in relation to different robberies in St. John's and Paradise.

The RNC arrested a 36-year-old man at a home in central St. John's at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, in connection with two separate crimes in December, including one robbery.

The suspect was arrested for a crime on Dec. 17, and was charged with robbery with violence, possession of a prohibited weapon, property damage and unlawfully being in a dwelling.

The man was also charged with public mischief in relation to a traffic stop on Dec. 9, in which he gave police a false name.

He was issued traffic summons for having suspended driver's licence and for providing false identification.

Police said the suspect is in custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Paradise pharmacy

The RNC also made an arrest in relation to a complaint at a pharmacy in Paradise.

Police answered the call Thursday at 3 p.m., and shortly afterwards, arrested a 21-year-old woman in a home in Paradise.

She was charged with robbery with violence and resisting arrest.

No one was injured in the incident and the woman is being held to appear in court on Friday.
