Police chase in Charlottetown leads to arrest

Charlottetown police say a 33-year-old city man faces several charges including flight from police.

Police were conducting routine patrols on Norwood Road Thursday night when they saw a vehicle driving in an erratic manner. Officers tried to stop the vehicle, with no luck.

A brief police chase followed. The driver eventually stopped on Centennial Drive.
But that wasn't the end of it.

Police said the man tried to run away but officers caught him.

Deputy chief Gary McGuigan said officers found hash, marijuana and speed pills in the vehicle.

He said the vehicle also had a stolen licence plate.

The man was arrested and kept overnight in jail.

He faces charges of flight from police, dangerous driving, breach of a court order, possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled drug.
