Confederation Park assault suspect sought by Ottawa police

Ottawa police are hoping to identify a man they say hit a woman on the head from behind in Confederation Park earlier this month.

It happened at about 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, police said in a media release issued Monday, four weeks later.

A woman was walking along Mackenzie King Bridge and walked down the stairs to the park, where she was struck, police said.

"A struggle ensued and the victim was able to fend off the attack and call police," the release said.

The suspect is described by police as a Middle Eastern man in his early 20s, standing about five feet 10 inches tall with a thin build and dark eyes. At the time he was unshaven and was wearing a black long-sleeved T-shirt, a red baseball cap and light-coloured jeans.
