Police ID Augusta woman found killed in her home; no suspect identified

The woman found killed inside her Augusta home has been identified as 93-year-old Joanne Johnson, according to the Augusta Department of Public Safety.

“There were no other individuals living at the residence at that time,” the department said in a Friday news release. “No suspects have been identified.”

Police were called to an unattended death Sept. 3 at 1711 Robbins and have determined it was a homicide. The department believes the killing happened between Sept. 2 and the night of Sept. 3.

Augusta is a town of less than 10,000 people about 20 miles east of Wichita.
