Police ID man they say was known to drive car that hit, killed pedestrian in Arlington

Police have identified a man who possibly is the driver who three weeks ago abandoned a car and ran toward an apartment complex after the vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian in Arlington.

Joel Sac Tambriz 24, has been known to drive the black 2019 Honda Civic hatchback that hit Daniel Cruces on June 9 at West Pioneer Parkway and Center Street, Arlington police said.

Cruces, who was 30, was using a crosswalk when he was struck, police said, attributing the account to a witness.

Police on Thursday requested the public’s help to locate Sac Tambriz, who they said is a person of interest in the case.

An officer in January stopped Sac Tambriz in the vehicle that struck Cruces, police said.

It was about 2 a.m. when Cruces, trying to cross West Pioneer Parkway, was hit by the eastbound Civic, police said.

Police said they saw alcohol containers inside the Civic, which they said was abandoned in the 700 block of East Pioneer Parkway.

If someone sees Sac Tambriz they should immediately call 911, police said. Someone with information about his location should call an officer at 817-575-8602. A person can anonymously offer a tip by calling Crime Stoppers of Tarrant County at 817-469-8477.
