Police identify man fatally stabbed in Toronto apartment building

Toronto police have identified a man fatally stabbed in an apartment building in the east end on Tuesday.

Nicola Maioreno, 57, was found badly hurt inside the building. Police began life-saving measures and paramedics took him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police were initially called to the building on Danforth Avenue, near Greenwood Avenue, around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Maioreno is Toronto's 65th homicide victim of the year.

Police taped off a large scene around the building as they looked for evidence.

Anyone with information is urged to call police.
