Popular Sacramento bakery closes its doors — again. What will take its place?
Southside Park’s neighborhood doughnut shop is gone once again.
Doughbot shuttered its operation on the corner of 10th and U streets just one year after its highly anticipated return to Sacramento’s Southside Park neighborhood.
The closure comes weeks after Buffalo Pizza & Ice Cream, which shared the massive retail space with the doughnut shop, made the trek in August back to its old stomping ground at 2600 21st St. in Land Park.
Doughbot owner Kyle Khasigian wasn’t immediately available for comment.
The bakery told customers in a September Instagram post that it would close its doors for two weeks to game plan for wholesale and customer orders, but signage posted on the outside of the storefront of 2030 10 St. confirms the business isn’t reopening. A new restaurant — Thai Time — is taking over both spaces.
Doughbot opened in 2022 after an eight-year hiatus, according to previous Sacramento Bee reporting. Its first location was at the space now filled by Japanese restaurant Binchoyaki at 2226 10th St.

The stylish American bakery threaded themes of robotics, futurism and history of Sacramento’s Southside Park neighborhood throughout its entire space.
“The deep history and culture of the area has only given us more reason to give back to the community through a familiarity of food and a fresh experience,” Doughbot wrote on its website.
The breakfast sandwiches and doughnuts were crowd favorites, with a variety of vegan options.
Other options included coffee cake with blueberry jam, puff pastry filled with spinach and feta, chive biscuits, cheese bagels and banana nut muffins. According to previous Bee reporting, Doughbot opened with a full espresso bar with lattes, hot chocolate, cold brew and cappuccinos.
