Prince George's Godfather Visits His Wedding Venue and Jokes It'll Be 'More Nerve-Wracking' Next Month

The Duke of Westminster and his fiancee, Olivia Henson, toured three organizations that the Westminster Foundation supports ahead of their June 7 wedding

In a month, they will be back in the cathedral for Britain's most-anticipated wedding of the year.

But when Prince George's godfather Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster, and his fiancee, Olivia Henson, visited Chester Cathedral in northwest England on May 7, they were more relaxed.

"The next time we’ll be here will be slightly more nerve-wracking," Hugh, 33, joked to the Very Rev. Tim Stratford, Dean of Chester.

Hugh and Olivia were at the magnificent cathedral to highlight some good causes the Westminster Foundation helps in the city. One of those was a parent-toddler music program that takes place at the cathedral, where the couple are set to wed on June 7.

"It’s so important to me to support young people in Chester. Hearing directly from them and seeing these charitable programs firsthand is the only way we’ll learn about the real issues that need addressing and how best to direct our support,” Hugh said.

The session was run by Small Sounds, which provides free, weekly music groups for 0 to 5-year-olds. Delivered by national charity The Cathedral Music Trust, the program also trains music staff to develop their skills and experience in early years practice.

While at the church, they also took the opportunity to meet members of the Cathedral Music team, who will play an important role in their wedding.

Cathedral Music Trust was one of three organizations that help children, young people and their families. The others were Cheshire Dance and Storyhouse.

Earlier in the day, the couple visited Storyhouse to see children taking part in a dance session run by the charity Cheshire Dance for those who learn outside of mainstream education across Chester, Ellesmere Port and the surrounding areas.

They also headed to the recently opened Studio by Storyhouse to talk to participants from Storyhouse’s Young Leaders program. The initiative supports those between 14 and 25 years old who have limited opportunities to connect with others.

The couple announced their engagement a year ago, and their wedding is set to bring members of the royal family to Chester.

In December, it emerged that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would not be heading to the U.K. in June for the wedding. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were reportedly left off the guest list for the nuptials of the Duke of Westminster and Olivia despite Hugh being close to both Prince Harry, 39, and his estranged brother Prince William, 41.

Hugh inherited the title and much of the family's wealth when his father Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor died in 2016. At the time of his death, the late Duke was the third richest British citizen, with a net worth estimated at $12.15 billion, according to the Sunday Times Rich List 2016. He also owned several acres of property near Buckingham Palace, in some of London's priciest neighborhoods.

His ties to the royal family are deep-seated. He is a godson of King Charles, 75, and his mother is a godmother to Prince William. He is also one of Prince Archie’s godparents, the Sunday Times has reported.

Outside work, Hugh is an avid skeet shooter, representing the national Great Britain team at Olympic Skeet Shooting competitions overseas and around the U.K.

The future Duchess of Westminster, Henson is a former Trinity College student who works for Belazu, a gourmet food company known for its olive oils and other artisanal offerings.
