Princess Anne, 73, Was Hospitalized After An 'Incident' On Her Estate

Princess Anne has been hospitalized after experiencing an “incident” at home.
The younger sister of King Charles III went to the hospital as a precaution after she developed minor injuries and a concussion, Buckingham Palace officials said in a June 24 state ment.
The firm hasn't shared many details about what happened to the 73-year-old, only revealing that the situation happened on Anne's Gatcombe Park estate on Monday night.
“Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation, and is expected to make a full and swift recovery,” the statement says.
It ended on this note: “The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole Royal Family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to The Princess for a speedy recovery.”
Sources told CNN that Anne was walking near horses on her estate when she suffered the minor injuries to her head. It’s not entirely clear what injuries Anne experienced, but her medical team said that they were consistent with the impact of a horse’s head or legs.
Emergency services went to the estate, CNN says, and Anne was taken to the hospital. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson told People that Princess Anne is “recovering well, is in a comfortable condition and is being kept in hospital as a precautionary measure for further observation.” She is expected to return home this week.
The spokesperson added that Princess Anne’s engagements for the week will be postponed. “Her Royal Highness sends her apologies to any who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result,” they said.
The princess is known for her love of horses and even competed in the 1976 Olympic Games in the equestrian event. She also rode in multiple European Three-Day Event Championships, winning a gold medal in the 1971 individual discipline and silver in the individual and team disciplines in 1975, per the royal family’s official website. She is now president of the British Olympic Association and a member of the International Olympic Committee.
Anne is a working royal, and her illness comes at a time when several major working royals are dealing with serious health journeys. Both Kate Middleton and King Charles are currently going through cancer treatments.
