Princess Charlotte could receive a new special title when she gets older
A title change is nothing new in the Royal Family. In fact, it's actually a common occurrence. From Kate Middleton taking over the Duchess of Rothesay moniker from Queen Camilla to William receiving the Prince of Wales role following his father's ascension to the throne, inheriting different titles is just part and parcel of being a Royal. And it's not just reserved for the adult members of the family, either.
In fact, Princess Charlotte, the 8-year-old daughter of Prince William and Kate Middleton has been tipped to acquire a seriously special title one day: Princess Royal. Simply because she is the couple's only daughter, and her father is next in line for the throne.
However, due to the traditional nature of the honour, it's unlikely she'll be granted it until she's a lot older, as it's customary that the title is bestowed on the monarch's oldest daughter.
Right now, the prestigious name is currently held by King Charles' sister, Princess Anne, who is also one of his closest confidantes. She officially acquired the name in 1987 when she was 37, as she was the late Queen Elizabeth's only daughter.
The Princess Royal is also a title that - once you receive it - you hold onto it for life. Which means that young Charlotte won't be able to inherit it until Princess Anne passes away - even if Prince William becomes King before that time comes.
So it looks like it's just going to be Princess Charlotte for the foreseeable...
