Quannah Chasinghorse Has the Most On-Theme Beauty Look at the Met Gala

If you asked Siri to define “ethereal,” it would take you to Quannah Chasinghorse’s 2024 Met Gala beauty look. (If it didn’t, it probably misheard you.) The model and activist brought an enchanting hair and makeup look to the floral-lined, green carpet, complete with seen-from-space purplish-pink highlighter and cascading hair with braids.

It is—dare we say—a spot-on interpretation of this year’s dress code, “The Garden of Time.” Says hairstylist and Paul Mitchell Artistic Director Paula Peralta, "The theme incorporates earth elements and Quannah has an incredible connection with the earth." Chasinghorse and her beauty team were also inspired by Forget Me Not flowers—as shown by the model's hair accessories and makeup, which work in the flower’s colors.

To create Chasinghorse’s hair look, Peralta prepped her freshly washed hair with the Paul Mitchell Flexible Style Sculpting Foam and Super Skinny Serum. She then dried and waved it with the Express Ion Clipped 1.25" Detachable Curling Iron before creating her intricate braids. (It’s comprised of two to three braids on each side of her head that are woven into an inverted French braid at the middle of her crown.) “The braiding and use of accessories with native beadwork in this year’s look shows the artistry and creativity of her people,” adds Peralta. “It shows that beauty is not a monolith.”

Her identity also inspired her makeup, says artist Katey Denno, who used Live Tinted and Half Magic products to bring her and Chasinghorse's vision to life. “Tonight’s makeup look was crafted to complement the jewelry she’s wearing, which she sourced from a Native jewelry designer, Heather Dixon,” she says. “We played on the tones of the feathers and quills.”

Those tones are best seen in Chasinghorse's eye look and highlight. After prepping her skin with the Live Tinted 3-in-1 Mineral Sunscreen, Moisturizer, and Primer and the Superhue Brightening Eye Cream, Denno swept on multiple, high-impact powder and liquid formulas across her lids. She applied a champagne highlighter with lavender flecks (Half Magic Light Trap DuoChrome Glow Powder) and a coat of the lavender liquid pigment (Half Magic Chromeaddicton Matte Eye Paint and Liner in Laviwinkle) on the entire lid, as well as a stroke of Half Magic Chromaddiction Matte Eye Paint and Eyeliner in Crown Plz along the crease.

The highlight along Chasinghorse's cheek and brow bone is a mixture of the DuoChrome Glow Powder in Spiritually Complex and Enter the Glow.

The end result is a look that is Met Gala magic.
