Rain, winds could restrict Maritime travel

Heavy rain and wind has caused some travel advisories in the Maritime region for Saturday.

The Confederation Bridge remains open, but there may be restrictions with winds forecast in the 50-70 kilometre per hour range.

Bay Ferries, operating between Digby, N.S., and Saint John, N.B., says it will make a decision early Saturday afternoon on delays or cancellations.

Northumberland Ferries between Caribou, N.S., and Wood Islands, P.E.I., are running on schedule as of 10 a.m. Saturday.

Marine Atlantic has cancelled its 11:45 p.m. ferries to and from North Sydney, N.S., and Port aux Basques, N.L.

Some flights at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport have been delayed, but other airports in the region are not reporting significant delays.

Environment Canada still has heavy rainfall warnings in place, calling for as much as 80 millimetres to fall in some areas before the rain moves out later this weekend.
