Man, 20, suffering life-threatening injuries after North Preston shooting

A 20-year-old man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a shooting in North Preston, N.S., on Wednesday morning.

RCMP officers were called to the area at 12:55 a.m. after reports of gunfire. While they were on their way, they spotted a vehicle that was making its way to the hospital with the victim inside. Paramedics then drove the man the rest of the way in an ambulance.

Investigators learned the man was shot near Clarence Street.

Police received a second report about shots being fired from Alex Lane. The RCMP said they don't know whether the two incidents are related.

Officers searched the community and told residents to stay in their homes. They also told the public to avoid the area.

But at 5:20 a.m. the RCMP sent out a news release saying that people in North Preston could once again leave their homes and that people could come into and out of the community freely.

The police are still investigating. Anyone with information is asked to call the Halifax RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
