Regina Pats, Lung Association challenge students to be healthy

Six players from the Regina Pats were at George Lee Elementary on Tuesday morning to give a presentation to the students on the importance of lung health.

The presentation was part of the Lung Association of Saskatchewan's campaign to challenge young people to protect their lungs.

The Pats players got the students involved in the presentation by getting them to do some physical activities.

One activity was showing the students pictures and asking them to stand if the pictures depicted something healthy or remain seated if the picture depicted something unhealthy.

According to a media release by the Lung Association, the youth smoking rates in Saskatchewan have been among the highest in the country for more than a decade.

The aim of the challenge is to lower the rates in the future and empower children.

Tickets are available for $15 for the Regina Pats Lung Challenge Game night on Dec. 10. Proceeds will help support the challenge and other community initiatives.
