Remains of 2nd person found in burned-out Clam Harbour-area home

Nova Scotia RCMP say they have found a second set of human remains in a burned-out house in the Clam Harbour-area.

Just before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, investigators found the remains of a man in the destroyed house on Nebooktook Walk.

The first set of human remains — of a woman — was found Monday evening after a fire tore through a house and two garages on Nova Scotia's Eastern Shore.

The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service has completed autopsies. Police have not released the identity or age of the victims.

According to online property records, the Nebooktook Walk property is registered to Ronald Baker and Frances Laura Baker.

'Suspicious' fire

RCMP said in a news release Tuesday that investigators "feel the cause of the fire is suspicious." Police have not said how the blaze started.

About a dozen fire trucks, as well as police and an ambulance, responded to the fire shortly before 10 a.m. on Monday.

While the heavy police presence continued on Tuesday, by Wednesday afternoon a lone RCMP officer guarded the entrance to the property.

Police are continuing to ask for the public's help in the investigation.
