Remembrance Day events across B.C.'s Lower Mainland on Tuesday will commemorate the memory of the thousands of people who have sacrificed their lives in military service.

Vancouver Remembrance Day ceremonies
Cauldron Lighting in Downtown Vancouver
- When: Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at 8:30 a.m. PT
- Where: Jack Poole Plaza, Vancouver Convention Centre, Canada Place
Remembrance Day in Vancouver begins with the Generation To Generation ceremony and the lighting of the cauldron at Jack Poole Plaza.
A senior veteran will hand over Canada's flag to a member of the next generation of veterans, in recognition of the continuing loyalty and service of Canadians from generation to generation.
The cauldron will stay lit until 11:00 a.m..

Parade and Ceremony at Victory Square
- When: Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at 9:45 a.m. PT
- Where: Cenotaph at Victory Square on Hastings Street at Cambie Street in Vancouver
The event will open at 9:45 a.m. PT with a 15-minute performance by the Vancouver Bach Youth Choir and Sarabande.
At 10:00 a.m. veterans, military marching units and bands will be led to Victory Square by the Vancouver Flag Party.
At 10:30 a.m. the cenotaph ceremony will begin. The Vancouver Fire and Rescue Service Band and the Pipes and Drums of the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada will perform Sands of Kuwait.
At 11:00 a.m. the Last Post will be sounded. There will be two minutes of silence, during which a 21-gun salute by the 15th Field Artillery Regiment will be heard from Portside Park. Rouse and Lament will follow.
The Royal Canadian Air Force will then carry out a flypast. Shortly afterwards, the Bach Youth Choir and Sarabande will sing In Flanders Fields. The traditional placing of wreaths at the cenotaph will follow.
At 11:30 a.m. the Remembrance Day parade of veterans, brass bands, pipes and drums, Canadian Forces units and Cadets, will begin marching west on Hastings and take the salute while passing the reviewing stand.
Veterans will continue on Hastings and disperse. The remainder of the parade will turn north on Richards, east on Cordova, and south on Cambie then salute the Cenotaph while passing Victory Square.

North Vancouver Remembrance Day parade and ceremony
- When: Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at 9:20 a.m. PT
- Where: Begins at the Armoury at 15th Street and Forbes Avenue, ends at Victoria Park Cenotaph on the 100 block of East Keith Road.
North Vancouver's Remembrance Day Parade is estimated to be the largest such parade in Canada, outside Ottawa, and is attended by thousands of people who come to pay tribute to the country's fallen troops.
Parade organizers also say 122 Mounties will be taking part this year— the second largest contingent in the country.
This year, the JP Fell Pipe Band will lead the parade, beginning at 9:20 a.m. at the Armoury at 15th Street and Forbes Avenue. The parade will then head east up 15th Street, across Lonsdale Avenue, then south to St. Georges Avenue to the RCMP Detachment at 14th Street.
At 9:55 a.m. PT the pipe band, RCMP and Fire Department will head south on St. Georges Avenue to the assembly point at the corner of East Keith Road and St. Georges Avenue.
The Remembrance Day ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. PT at Victoria Park Cenotaph. After the ceremony finishes at 11:30 a.m.PT, the parade will continue northbound on Lonsdale Avenue, turning westbound on West 15th Street before returning to the Armories on Forbes Avenue.

Burnaby Remembrance Day ceremonies
Burnaby South Remembrance Day parade and ceremony
- When: Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. PT
- Where: South Burnaby Cenotaph, Bonsor Park, at Imperial Street and Nelson Avenue
The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. PT from Legion #83 on 5289 Grimmer Street, followed by a ceremony at the cenotaph at 11:00 a.m PT.

Burnaby North Remembrance Day parade and ceremony
When: Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. PT
Where: North Burnaby Cenotaph, Confederation Park on Willingdon Avenue and Penzance Drive
The parade begins at 10:30 a.m. PT at the Safeway parking lot on 4440 Hastings Street, followed by a ceremony at the cenotaph at 11:00 a.m PT.

New Westminster Remembrance Day parade and ceremony
- When: Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. PT (doors close at 9:45 a.m.)
- Where: The Royal Westminster Regiment Armoury, Queens Avenue
A memorial address will be delivered at 10:00 a.m.PT by Colonel (Retired) Bill White Cd. at the Armoury. At approximately 10:40 a.m PT there will be a public parade from the Armoury to the Cenotaph in front of City Hall.
At the Cenotaph, two minutes of silence will be held at 11:00 a.m. PT, followed by a special message from Mayor Wayne Wright, a reading of the poem In Flanders Field, the wreath laying ceremony. There will then be a procession led by the Royal Westminster Regiment along Royal Avenue.
The event will also be live streamed at the Queens Avenue United Church. All members of the public are welcome to attend the Armouries, Cenotaph and Church, which are wheelchair and stroller friendly and accept those people wishing to attend with their assistance dogs.

Richmond Remembrance Day parade, ceremony and reception
- When: Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. PT
- Where: City Hall Cenotaph, 6911 No 3 Road
A military parade will begin marching at 10:20 a.m. PT from Minoru Park, featuring members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Canadian Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Association members, Richmond's permanent Canadian Forces Unit 39 Service Battalion and representation from public safety agencies and cadet organizations.
Official ceremonies at the City Hall cenotaph will begin at 10:40 a.m. PT, followed by a two-minute silence is observed at 11:00 a.m. PT and a wreath-laying.
The event will also be live streamed at City Hall Council Chambers, where the public is welcome to attend. First seating preference will be given to those unable to stand outside for the duration of the service.
When the service ends, the public is invited to warm up with a hot drink and snack at a free Remembrance Day reception in the City Hall Galleria. A local choir will perform amid Remembrance Day displays put together by the City of Richmond Archives and the Friends of the Richmond Archives.

Surrey Remembrance Day ceremonies
Cloverdale Remembrance Day ceremony, parade and activities
- When: Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at 10:15 a.m. PT
- Where: Cloverdale Cenotaph at the Surrey Museum, 17710 56A Avenue
Ceremonies will begin at the cenotaph at 10:15 a.m., followed by two minutes' silence at 11:00 a.m. Following the service, the Legion Colour Party will lead a parade back to the Cloverdale Legion branch #6 at 17567 57 Avenue, where there will be refreshments.
After the ceremony, members of the public are also invited to warm up with hot chocolate and cookies at the museum and take part in Remembrance Day activities such as children's poppy crafts, screenings of WWII documentary films and a presentation of how World War I and II affected life in small town B.C.

Surrey Crescent Beach Remembrance Day ceremony
- When: Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. PT
- Where: Royal Canadian Legion Crescent Branch #240 at 2643 128th Street
The service, led by former president George Temperton and Reverend Mike Cook will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the legion. A colour party of sea, army, air cadets and the RCMP will attend, alongside members of the public who are also welcome.
The service will be almost entirely indoors, with the exception of the laying of wreaths and a fly-past at the cenotaph outside. These will be live streamed to those inside.

Doors are open from 12:15 p.m. PT until 8:30 p.m. PT for performances by the Victoria Police Chorus, Canadian College of Performing Arts and Gary Preston & The Kingmixers.

Victoria Britannia Branch Remembrance Day event
- When: Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at 10:00 a.m.
- Where: Royal Canadian Legion #7 Britannia, 780 Summit Avenue
The Britannia legion branch, Victoria RCMP Veteran's Division and the Victoria RCMP NCOs Mess are holding a food and entertainment day to honour veterans.
A hot breakfast buffet will be served for veterans and families at 10:00 a.m. PT, followed by entertainment. At midday a hot luncheon buffet will be served, followed by more entertainment.
Veterans, the general public and RCMP employees and family members are welcome to attend.
