New restaurant to open in prime spot in Fresno’s River Park. Familiar name behind it

Sushi is coming back to River Park when new restaurant O-iza opens in a few weeks.

The Japanese restaurant will serve other food too when it opens its doors in the spot near the theater most recently occupied by Brooks Burgers and once home to part of World Sports Cafe.

It will start with a soft opening Wednesday, March 20 and celebrate a grand opening later.

O-iza’s owners already run several Asian restaurants in prominent shopping centers across the city.

Lin’s Restaurant Group and CEO Jason Lin have two restaurants in River Park: Spicy J’s Specialty Chinese Cuisine and J Pot Mini Hot Pot Bar.

The family company also owns Lin’s Fusion buffet, Hino Oishi at Campus Pointe, two Ramen Hayashi locations, and once had two Rollie Rollie Thai rolled ice cream spots. (The Clovis Rollie Rollie is still open, but the Fresno one closed and is being turned into a new restaurant.)

As for the food, O-iza will serve sushi and sashimi, meals cooked on a hibachi and other dishes. It will carry premium Japanese teas, sake, wine cocktails, and more to drink.

Its opening is a return of sushi to River Park, which hasn’t been available since Yoshino closed in 2020.
