There's no denying that we're a nation of plant lovers – anyone else treat their Monstera like a first-born child? – so a trip to the garden centre is a weekend staple for many. But, as it turns out, that weekly pilgrimage could turn into a royal meet and greet as it's been revealed the Queen's granddaughter has been working at one all summer long!

As she awaited her A-level results (which came out earlier this week, by the way), Lady Louise Windsor took up a job at her local garden centre and has reportedly been earning £6.83 an hour for it.

According to one shopper, Louise – who is Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex’s daughter – helped out on the tills, greeted customers and pruned and potted plants. "I couldn’t believe it was Lady Louise — I had to look twice," the shopper told The Sun of the royal encounter.

"She is a really modest and sweet young woman who is polite and attentive to customers. She seemed to be loving the job," the shopper added. "You’d never imagine the Queen’s granddaughter would take on a role working behind a till."

"It’s not every day you buy your begonias off a royal," someone else told the newspaper. And it's true, given that Lady Louise is 16th in line to the throne and lives in her parents' £30 million mansion.

"Isn’t it wonderful the Queen’s granddaughter rolled her sleeves up and got her hands dirty with a summer job before going to university — just like any other normal teenager," said Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine.

Although Palace aides have not shared details of Lady Louise's A-level results, a spokesperson confirmed to The Sun that next month she will start studying English at St Andrews University in Fife. After turning 18 last year, Lady Louise turned down the offer to become a working member of the Royal Family.

But Lady Louise isn't the only royal who's been spotted at work recently, as in June of this year, Prince William went undercover on the streets of London as a Big Issue seller. "What an honour to have a private moment with our future King who was humble and working quietly in the background, helping the most needy, one passerby took to social media to say. "These 'silent gestures' often go unrecognised."

BRB, we're off to the garden centre...
