Russia ties at 'low point': NATO's Stoltenberg

Stoltenberg was speaking during a news conference on Thursday (October 21) ahead of a two-day summit of NATO defence ministers held in Brussels.

Russia said on Monday it would halt the activities of its diplomatic mission to NATO after the Western military alliance expelled eight Russians saying they were spies.

"We still have avenues and channels for communications with Russia but we regret the Russian decision," he said.

The defence ministers are set to agree a new master plan on Thursday to defend against any potential Russian attack on multiple fronts, reasserting a bid to deter Moscow despite the alliance's new focus on China, diplomats and officials said.
