The 2023 MTV VMAs are upon us, and before the stars hit the stage for what are sure to be unforgettable acceptance speeches and performances, they're making their mark on the red carpet. Scroll through to see what Selena Gomez, Cardi B, Demi Lovato, Olivia Rodrigo and more are wearing to kick off one of music's biggest nights.

Selena Gomez

Lady in red! Nominee Selena Gomez wore a fiery red design on the MTV Vmas pink carpet. Her look consisted of a cutout floral design and high-heeled sandals.

Taylor Swift

Nominated for a whopping 11 awards, Taylor Swift oozed superstar vibes in an asymmetrical gown with gold grommets and sandals.

Nicke Minaj

Here comes the emcee! Nicki Minaj made an entrance in a bustier gown and matching veil.

Shakira

Shakira, Shakira! The star, who will be honored with this year's coveted video vanguard award (oh, and she nominated for a handful of awards and performing) dripped in a liquid gold dress ahead of her milestone night.

Cardi B

"Bongos" rapper Cardi B, who's performing her instant hit and is also nominated, looked like money in a strapless gown which appeared to be covered in metal hair clips and matching gladiator-style cuffs.

Demi Lovato

To be clear: There was nothing basic about Demi Lovato's black look. The nominee and performer's look featured a geometric oversize coat which showed off a sliver of her equally cool outfit underneath. Her show of choice: the Christian Louboutin "Hot Chick Sling."

Doja Cat

Doja Cat, who's nominated for 6 moonmen tonight and also performing, left little to the imagination on the MTV VMAs pink carpet in a cobweb-like dress and see-through heels. A dramatic cat eye and lashes (which together gave the illusion of a spider) plus oxblood nails added to the drama.

Megan Thee Stallion

Before she performed "Bongos" alongside Cardi B, nominee Megan Thee Stallion wowed in a tulle corset gown with exposed silk grosgrain boning by Brandon Blackwood NYC. She accessorized the sheer black design with a matching statement choker, bracelet and manicure.

Olivia Rodrigo

One of the night's 6-time nominees, Olivia Rodrigo sparkled on the MTV VMAs pink carpet in a high-shine, floor-skimming dress and Roger Vivier platform sandals. Sleek hair and vampy nails completed her look.

Saweetie

Presenter Saweetie rocked a metallic pink Area gown embellished with two large bones. Extra-long nails gave her Stone Age glam an edgy vibe.

Karol G

A nominee and performer tonight, Karol G hit the MTV VMAs pink carpet in a champagne-tone see-through Ashi Studio gown and coat which she styled off her shoulders.

Tiffany Haddish

"I feel amazing," the presenter and musician said on the MTV VMAs pink carpet of her Jason Wu fit: a sheer, embellished layer over a black bodysuit plus earrings and rings by Reza.

Bebe Rexha

On hand to present, nominee Bebe Rexha kept things sleek and sultry in a black dress with cone-shape bra cups (and featuring butt cut outs) by The Uncommonist, plus Piferi platforms.

Anitta

Another star pulling double-duty as nominee and performer (times two!), Anitta struck a pose in a two-tone, belly-baring Schiaparelli gown ("I'm the key" she declared on the pink carpet, alluding to its keyhole design) and vibrant earrings.

Kelsea Ballerini

Before heading to the stage to perform, Kelsea Ballerini smoldered in a curve-hugging, custom Mônot dress and stacks of bracelets on the MTV VMAs pink carpet.

Chloe Bailey

Feeling blue! Chloe Beiley, a nominee, smized in a Roberto Cavalli gown with a thigh-high slit and velvet platform sandals.

Sabrina Carpenter

Sabrina Carpenter, who lit up the pre-show with a performance, also stepped on the pink carpet in an ethereal tulle bustier dress.

Rita Ora

Presenter Rita Ora paired her off-the-shoulder Rodarte gown featuring dramatic sleeves with sparkly silver sky-high platforms.
