Selling Sunset's Jason Oppenheim announces death of dog
Selling Sunset boss Jason Oppenheim and ex-partner Mary Bonnet's pet chihuahua Niko has sadly passed away.
Oppenheim and Bonnet jointly announced their heartbreaking loss on Instagram yesterday (February 29). The former couple had shared custody of Niko following their separation.
"With the heaviest hearts we write this letter to you our sweet baby boy, for 18 years you made us smile and laugh, and filled our world with immeasurable happiness," their tribute began.

"With your unconditional love and loyalty, you comforted us when we cried and helped heal our hearts when they were broken. You lifted us in times of need and celebrated with us our wins and successes.
"Thank you for all the valuable lessons you taught to not only us but our family and friends as well. You opened our eyes to depths we had no idea love can reach, taught us a higher level of patience and selflessness, and showed us what true loyalty and devotion looks like."
Oppenheim and Bonnet's tribute described Niko as "a patient, protective and caring brother" to Zelda, who they also adopted, and Thor, a Pomeranian dog that Bonnet and her husband Romain adopted together.
"Even at the very end when your body and mind were failing and beyond exhausted, you still tirelessly struggled to hold on for us, refusing to give in," the tribute continued.

"It was our turn to be selfless, and strong for you. Tearing our own hearts out so we could help you to avoid suffering was the only loving option we had. It was the hardest thing we have ever done. If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.
"We miss you so much already, but you're at peace now. We know you are still with us, just in a different form.
"We struggle to find the words to describe our feelings for you, because nothing can express the love and joy that fill our hearts, where you will always remain. You have changed our lives forever."
Oppenheim and Bonnet (née Fitzgerald) then sent "all of our love" to Niko "until we make it to where you are".
The photo carousel shared by the former couple also featured a picture showing that they had both honoured Niko with tattoos on their forearms.

Oppenheim's twin brother Brett was among those sharing condolences on their post, writing that Niko "was the best baby boy, and he had an amazing life. Love all three of you forever".
Romain also shared his own post remembering Niko, with a photo showing him and Mary with Niko, Zelda and Thor.
"Our Boy Niko. We will miss you so much, our house won't feel the same," he wrote. "Thor and Zelda will miss having their big brother around. We love you."
