Septic truck catches fire after crash with SUV in South Miami-Dade

A septic tank truck burst into flames after crashing with a Nissan sport utility vehicle Wednesday afternoon in southwest Miami-Dade County.

The crash happened on Southwest 248th Street and 102nd Avenue around 2:45 p.m. leading to the Miami-Dade Landfill and Blackpoint Park and Marina, according to Miami-Dade County police.

Detective Argemis Colome, police spokesman, said Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived about five minutes after the crash to extinguish the burning truck.

Details about possible injuries were not immediately available.

Around 4 p.m., the charred septic truck sat parked against a guardrail that separates the road from a drainage canal. The vehicle appears to have crashed into the guardrail.

West of the truck, the damaged SUV also appears to have crashed into the rail. It had significant front-end damage, and deflated airbags inside the car.
