Who Is Seth Green's Wife? All About Clare Grant
Actor Seth Green was just friends with actress Clare Grant at first, but now they’ve been married since 2010
Actor Seth Green is a household name for his work in shows like Family Guy, where he voices Chris Griffin, and roles in blockbusters like Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. But it was his work as a comic book author that led him to his best friend and future wife, Clare Grant.
In 2007, Green appeared at the re-opening of Golden Apple Comics in Los Angeles to sign copies of his comic book series, Freshmen. Grant was also in attendance, taking photographs. They connected briefly and ran into each other again at Comic Con, becoming fast friends before taking the next step.
Also an actor, Grant and Green collaborated on the 2019 film Changeland, as well as a few other films and projects, often bonding over their shared love for comics and games.
Speaking to PEOPLE shortly after their wedding, Green said of his new wife: “Clare is an amazing partner, an exceptional woman and such a great friend and person who sees things the way they are and really takes the initiative to make her life and the world better.”
She’s an actress
Clare Grant got her start in Hollywood with a small role in the 2005 Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line, acting alongside Joaquin Phoenix.
Her scene-stealing role earned her praise from her husband, who said on the My Plus One podcast about her scene in the film: “If you wanna find somebody in a crowd, put her in the crowd. Your eyes just go right to her.”
In 2006, she starred in Black Snake Moan, playing Kell, the best friend of lead actress Christina Ricci’s character Rae. She was cast by filmmaker Craig Brewer, who would go on to officiate her wedding.
Grant continued working with Craig Brewer, playing a lead role in MTV’s 2009 series $5 Cover, where she played a character with her own name, Clare, who is a struggling musician in the Memphis music scene.
Grant has also dabbled in voice acting, most notably playing Latts Razzi in the TV series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. She’s also voiced characters on the comedy series MAD TV and on Robot Chicken, the animated adult comedy series co-created by her husband.
In 2019, Grant starred alongside Green in Changeland, a film that he also directed.
They met in 2007
Green and Grant met in 2007 and became fast friends.
“When we met it wasn’t love at first sight — it was besties at first sight,” Grant wrote in an Instagram caption for their wedding anniversary. “We were friends for so long neither of us wanted to f–k up the friendship that had healed something in both of us.”
Grant first met her future husband at the reopening of their favorite comic book store, Golden Apple Comics in L.A. Grant was photographing the event, while Green was there to sign autographs.
“We met that night but didn’t have the opportunity to connect,” Green told PEOPLE. But their shared love of comics would soon bring them together again.
“Then we met each other a second time at Comic Con. We both had so much in common and kept running in to each other throughout the week,” he continued.
Green told the My Plus One podcast that he got Grant’s number and invited her over to hang out casually, which she accepted.
“We ended up being friends for a year, but basically, I went to his apartment and never left,” Grant said on the My Plus One podcast.
After a year of friendship, the comic-loving couple became official.
They got married in 2010
On May 1, 2010, Green and Grant tied the knot at a private vineyard in Northern California.
The wedding came just five months after Green proposed to Grant on New Year’s Eve in 2009.
“For a few months before I proposed, I was actually working on the ring with a jeweler that I knew,” Green told PEOPLE in 2010. “Eventually it just came down to us being in a very special place and me having the ring.”
Grant wasn’t expecting the proposal, she told PEOPLE.
“I’m a very rational person, so in my head I was mathematically breaking it down, like maybe after a period of time it will be okay to move in together and then we can think about getting married.”
Grant wore a tiered Oscar de la Renta gown, while Green sported a custom suit from designer Dennis Kim. Filmmaker Craig Brewer, who worked with Grant on multiple projects, officiated at the wedding.
“When we finally took that leap we fell so fast and so hard it was a shock to everyone around us including each other,” Grant wrote on the couple’s 13th wedding anniversary, noting that they were “closer than ever.”

“You promised me a life of adventure and I promised you I wouldn’t kill you. Looks like we are both keeping up our end of the bargain … for now. 😈,” she continued, before wishing her “bestie” a happy anniversary.
“It helps that we literally laugh all the time,” Grant said of how their relationship works on the My Plus One podcast in April 2023.
She’s a gamer
Grant is vocal about her love for video games, often shouting out her favorite new games on Twitter.
“I love that I haven’t lived with my mom for over 26 years and she was still excited today to make sure I knew that a new Zelda game is out,” Grant tweeted in May 2023, when The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was released.
She also shared art from Final Fantasy XVI in June 2023, writing “Happy Final Fantasy 16 day to all who celebrate!”
Grant also chronicled her journey to owning a Sony Playstation 5 in 2022, when there was a shortage of the gaming console. She finally got her hands on one in August 2022, writing: “After 27 years and buckets of tears, I am finally the proud owner of a @PlayStation 5. Thank you internet, thank you, Twitter, thank you to my cat.”
In 2019, Grant participated in the Fortnite Celebrity Pro-Am competition, where she and her partner came in 4th place overall, earning $100,000 for charity.
She loves comics
Grant’s love of comics opened worlds to her, including introducing her to her husband, and landing some acting roles. She and Green first met at a comic book shop in L.A. and reconnected at Comic Con shortly after.
Grant’s first leading role in a film was in The Graves, an independent film written and directed by comic book creator Brian Pulido. In the film, she plays Megan Graves, a young woman who is obsessed with comic books and pop culture.
She also had a cameo in Iron Man 2 as a fan at an expo, true to her personality.
She’s a cosplay pro
A lover of fantasy, Grant doesn’t turn down an opportunity to play dress up.
For Halloween 2022, Grant posted herself in multiple costumes, including Marvel comic book character Ghost-Spider and Rick from Rick and Morty — with Green dressed as Morty.
Sometimes, Grant even gets to cosplay for a role, like when she got to dress up as a Kylorian in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
“I loved each of these movies so much. But mostly I have loved watching my friend bring these characters to life and seeing the world fall in love with James as a writer & director,” Grant wrote on Instagram, alongside a series of photos of herself in full makeup and costume.
“Guardians holds a special place in my own misfit heart and I am honored to play in this world even a tiny bit. Thanks, James for bringing me into the Guardians family. I loved every minute of my day on set,” she continued.
Playing dress up with Gunn isn’t new for Grant or Green, though. In 2011, the filmmaker posted a series of photos on Facebook showcasing different looks from himself and other guests at a prom party hosted by Green and Grant.
“This Saturday Seth Green hosted a Prom Party for his wonderful wife Clare Grant. You had to come dressed for a prom from any era or any movie. I wore a suit, because I'm lazy,” Gunn wrote.
Other guests pictured at the party included Rileah Vanderbilt and Milynn Sarley, who were part of Team Unicorn with Grant.
Her parody music videos have gone viral
In 2010, Grant formed a multimedia production team with Vanderbilt, Sarley and Michele Boyd, called Team Unicorn. Together, they created and released a music video called “G33k & G4m3r Girls,” a parody of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls.”
The music video went viral, reaching a million views in its first week. It featured cameos from Marvel comics creator Stan Lee and Green, who rapped a verse for the song.

In 2014, with new member Alison Haislip taking Boyd’s place, Team Unicorn put out another parody music video with entertainment company Nerdist. This time, they parodied Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” with a Star Wars-themed music video, called “All About That Base: No Rebels.”
