Shocker! ‘Mission: Impossible’s Christopher McQuarrie Severs Ties With Entire Rep Team

EXCLUSIVE: Christopher McQuarrie has major change in his representation. He has left CAA, his longtime manager Ken Kamins at Key Creatives, and his attorney David Fox. I’m told he will be represented by Matt Galsor at Greenberg Glusker. He is the attorney for Tom Cruise, with whom McQuarrie has been a regular collaborator on the Mission: Impossible blockbuster films.

This is a shocker reverberating around town. It sounds like McQuarrie has a lot of his runway lit going into the future; among other things, he is producing the outer space movie that Cruise and director Doug Liman are planning with Universal, NASA and Space X. I understand there wasn’t a lot of drama here in the conveyance of the exit, but if McQuarrie has his dance card set far into the future, it certainly seems like he will be saving a lot of money in commissions. None of the parties were available to comment. I will add if that changes.

More from Deadline

McQuarrie’s relationship with Kamins goes back over 20 years; when Kamins left the top of ICM to start his management company, McQuarrie was one of his original clients who followed him to launch the successful start up venture. McQuarrie joined CAA around the time that he scripted Valkyrie, the Cruise vehicle directed by Bryan Singer.

McQuarrie and Cruise became regular collaborators after that; he did uncredited script work on Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol, then he directed and scripted Jack Reacher, did uncredited script work on World War Z, scripted Edge of Tomorrow, then took the directing reins on Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, Mission: Impossible Fallout, and Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One, in post on the second installment slotted for May 23, 2025. McQuarrie also scripted Top Gun Maverick and produced with Jerry Bruckheimer, Cruise and David Ellison. He’ll be back for the third installment of the Top Gun franchise as producer at least, and Cruise has said he wants to keep making M:I films far into the future.
