Shonda Rhimes reveals which of her leading men she'd choose for herself

From McDreamy to the Bridgerton brothers, there's no shortage of options.

When it comes to the heartthrob men of Shondaland, there are no wrong answers.

But of all the hunks, steamies, dreamies, and lords, which one would hot-stuff superproducer Shonda Rhimes opt to pick her, choose her, love her?

Jennifer Hudson wanted to know, so she asked Rhimes while appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show to choose from quite the charcuterie board of beefcake: McDreamy, aka Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) and McSteamy, aka Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) of Grey's Anatomy, President Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) of Scandal, Det. Nate Lahey (Billy Brown) from How to Get Away with Murder, and Bridgerton's Simon, the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page).

Many might have assumed Rhimes would go with one of her O.G. guys, the two bookends of Grey's. But instead, she chose one of her newer heroes, Simon.

"I'm gonna have to say the Duke," she replied, when Hudson presented her with the options. "Not because they're not all amazing, but because he was such fantasy fulfilled, kind of man. Like he was perfect, never got to have any real flaws after we got them all together."

"That's a good choice," Hudson responded. "I love that for you."

As Simon, Page quickly became a heartthrob, breaking the internet with a suggestive spoon lick. But he broke hearts when he announced he would not return to Bridgerton after the first season (a decision he's continued to stand by as season 3 premieres).

Rhimes, however, stood by her leading man's choice. "Rightfully, he said, 'I signed up to do this one lovely story, this closed-ended storyline. I'm good!'" she said, "I don't blame him for that. I think that he was really smart to leave the perfection as the perfection."

Perfection she'd love to have for herself as it turns out.
