Shot fired as farm shop owner confronts thieves in Springbank

Police are searching for the thieves who shot at a property owner in Springbank on Thursday as he was trying to prevent them from getting away.

Mounties received a call at 7 a.m. that a break-in was in progress at a farm shop in Springbank, west of Calgary.

According to the RCMP release, the shop employees had interrupted the thieves as they were loading up a Ford pickup with the stolen goods.

The owner followed the Ford to a nearby parking lot. As he tried to block the truck from leaving the lot, a second vehicle pulled up beside him.

It missed and no one was hurt.

The Mounties are looking for the vehicles and the people inside.

The first vehicle was a black Ford F150 Fx4 with a distinct red pinstripe down the side. The second vehicle was a red SUV with an Idaho licence plate.

Police also released photos of the persons of interest in this break and enter. They warn that if you see these people, call 911 immediately and don't approach them.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Cochrane RCMP at 403-851-8000.
