Silver Lining Entertainment Dissolving: Jeff Golenberg & Jason Shapiro Launch Strand Entertainment, Sam Maydew Starts 734 Media
EXCLUSIVE: After more than a decade, Silver Lining Entertainment, the management and production company founded by veterans Jeff Golenberg and Sam Maydew, is dissolving.
Golenberg and fellow Silver Lining partner Jason Shapiro have launched Strand Entertainment, a management and production company based in Los Angeles, bringing most of Silver Lining’s managers with them. Maydew has formed his own management/production company, 734 Media. The split we hear was amicable, with the former partners’ paths diverging, a process accelerated by the pandemic.

Joining Golenberg and Shapiro in their new venture are longtime colleagues Tarik Kanafani, Emily Rifanburg, Kaelyn Hutchins, and Aileen Lewis. Jeff’s brother, manager/producer Rob Golenberg (Your Honor, Betrayal), who was a partner at Silver Lining, has formed GoGi Entertainment, a new production company focused on international productions, with his former assistant Paulina Giron Velasquez. He also plans to continue to work alongside the Strand principals and their joint production entity, having over the last decade repped over a dozen showrunner clients and set up a number of international formats for U.S. remakes.
Golenberg and Shapiro, who have over 30 years of experience in management, are bringing with them their entire roster of established clients, including Wilmer Valderrama, Jason Isaacs, Katherine Waterston, Camilla Belle, Mike Colter, Rosie Perez, Derek Hough, Nicholas Pinnock, Matthew Lillard, Margarita Levieva, Harold Perrineau, Mercedes Mason, Keiynan Lonsdale, Sandrine Holt, Christina Chang, Beth Riesgraf, Haneefah Wood, David Ajala, Michael Malarkey, Rob Heaps, Michaela McManus, and Mimi Rogers.
Emerging talents on Strand Entertainment’s roster include Meg Donnelly (Zombies), Jess Hong (3 Body Problem), Luke Newton (Bridgerton), Cooper Koch (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story), Aurora Perrineau (Kaos), Andrew Liner (Ransom Canyon), Niamh McCormack (Everything Now), Stephanie Suganami (Opus), Dana Heath (Danger Force), Leila George (Disclaimer), Casey Likes (Back to the Future), Annie Gonzalez (Jenni Rivera), and Daisy Jelley (How to Have Sex).
Maydew, who had been focusing on producing, already has six projects in development at 734 Media. He also continues to manage longtime clients such as Vincent D’Onofrio, Jai Courtney, Raven-Symoné, Retta, Ramón Rodríguez, Rasmus King and Chris O’Neal, Paint filmmaker Brit McAdams, and composers Dave Kushner and Jose Cancela.
On the producing front, Golenberg and Shapiro have several projects in development including Dance Dads at ABC, with client Derek Hough, and Deadheading at FX — both, with producer Rob Golenberg — as well as an Untitled Meg Donnelly Project at Disney+ with Kapital Entertainment. Current feature projects include Heavyweight with client Nicholas Pinnock and his Silver Milk Productions and Marmalade for Hulu, the first feature from client Keir O’Donnell, who directed from his own script.
Maydew and Golenberg partnered to found Silver Lining Entertainment in 2013, first coming to work with Shapiro in 2011 at The Collective, which pioneered digital talent representation and content creation, while managing major musicians and comedians.
Prior to The Collective, Golenberg worked as a manager and producer at 3 Arts Entertainment for seven years. Beginning his career at UTA, where he worked his way up from the mailroom to feature agent, Shapiro spent a total of nine years on the agency side before transitioning to management.
