Simon Cowell Talks About Nick Cannon’s Abrupt Departure From ‘AGT’

America’s Got Talent judge Simon Cowell sat down with Natalie Morales for Today and opened up about former AGT host Nick Cannon’s abrupt departure from the show. After hosting for eight seasons, Cannon quit in February after a disagreement with NBC executives. Cowell said he was shocked by the suddenness of the decision.

“I called him. We talked a lot,” Cowell said. “And in the end, it ended as positive as it could be.”

Cowell also opened up about Cannon’s replacement, Tyra Banks.

I’ve seen a completely different side of her. I mean, she’s funny, goofy. She’s still a bit of a diva,” Cowell said. He was quick to explain that being a diva isn’t a bad thing, saying, “I mean it as a compliment, by the way. It’s that presence you’ve got when you walk in a room.”
