  • Biles posted a TikTok telling naysayers to keep their criticism to themselves

  • The backlash against Owens began when he called himself "the catch" during a podcast appearance

Simone Biles is tired of the online scrutiny about her marriage to NFL player Jonathan Owens.

The 27-year-old Olympic gold medalist seemingly called out the naysayers who tell her she should "leave" Owens, 28, when she posted a TikTok poking at the negative comments towards her and Owens on social media.

Biles followed the popular trend on TikTok where content creators rip off a piece of tape set to the sound of a girl's voice saying, "This is for your mouth. Let me know if you need a bigger piece," for her digital retort.

The decorated Olympian mouthed along to the dialogue while looking into the camera. Above her in the video, Biles wrote several of the phrases she's used to seeing from critics of her marriage, including, "Mr. Biles," "Simone & what's his name again," "leave him sis," and "still don't know his name."

In the caption of her post on TikTok, Biles wrote, "To all my Twitter finger friends & etc. #fyp #sorrynotsorry #mindyourbusiness."

The disapproval of Owens from Biles' fans began when the new Chicago Bears safety did an interview on The Pivot podcast in December calling himself "the catch" in their relationship.

"I always say that the men are the catch," he said, adding that he "was fighting" against his natural feeling of being "afraid to commit" before he and Biles officially began dating.

The comments brought an onslaught of negative attention to the couple's marriage, and Biles recently opened up about how she "broke down" afterward.

In an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast on April 16, Biles revealed that the negative comments about her relationship brought her to tears.

"First of all, that interview had nothing to do with me," Biles said of her husband's conversation with The Pivot. "It was all for him. So I think they were mad that he didn't include me in the interview, but he has to have his moments too, and I let him have it."

Biles also explained that her husband's comments may have been misunderstood by viewers. "He never said I wasn't a catch," Biles clarified.

"He said he was a catch because he is. I've never met a man like him. A lot of people that meet him are like, oh my gosh. I want a man like that, like Jonathan."

Biles said she initially found the discourse "hilarious" before the backlash became overwhelming. "I thought it was hilarious what people were saying, divorce him, divorce him. All of this crazy stuff," she said. "And, like, he doesn't even like to say divorce. So I thought it was hilarious at first, and then they hurt my feelings."

Biles said there came a point when she couldn't handle the negative comments, revealing, "Then, like, one night, I broke down, and I'm like, 'Why are you guys talking about my husband like this?' "

"That really hurt that they were talking about my husband like that. Because for me, it's like talk about me all you want, but don't come for my family," she said.

Shortly after Owens and Biles tied the knot on April 22, 2023, at the Harris County Courthouse in Houston, they hosted a second wedding celebration in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with family and friends.

The couple was forced to adapt to a long-distance relationship less than a month after their destination wedding when Owens signed a contract with the Green Bay Packers.

This NFL offseason, Owens left the Packers in free agency and signed a two-year contract worth $4.75 million with the Chicago Bears.

Meanwhile, Biles, is gearing up for a potential return to the Summer Olympics, kicking off on July 26 in Paris. The four-time Olympic gold medalist revealed last year that "so far, it’s heading in the right direction" as she continued to "work on myself."
