SLO County building ‘completely destroyed’ by flames, Cal Fire says

A fire “completely destroyed” a 3,000-square-foot outbuilding in rural Atascadero, Cal Fire told The Tribune Monday.

Cal Fire responded to the fire around 1:30 p.m. at an outbuilding in the 8800 block of Rocky Canyon Road. The outbuilding had equipment and several hay bales inside.

The equipment and building were all destroyed in the fire. Because of the hay bales, firefighters were on the scene longer to ensure all of the flames were completely mopped up.

The agency expected the fire to be fully contained by 5:30 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Cal Fire said.
