Son of former Fresno State standout puts on a show for Bullard High against Edison

Ja’Vance Coleman put on a show for the Bullard High basketball team.

The sophomore scored 33 points to lead The Bee’s sixth-ranked Knights to an 86-61 victory over No. 25 Edison in a County/Metro Athletic Conference game on Friday night.

Coleman was hitting his shots in the first half that carried into the second half when he drained consecutive 3-pointers and was fouled on a layup that got the student section cheering with him.

Never mind the technical Coleman received in the first half after draining a 3-pointer, it was all Knights against the Tigers in an early CMAC showdown.

His father, Ja’Vance Coleman, played at Washington Union before going to Fresno State in 2004 and played three seasons for the Bulldogs under Ray Lopes (2004-05) and Steve Cleveland (2005-06, 2006-07).

Bullard (16-6) remained undefeated in the CMAC at 3-0 while Edison (10-11) fell to 2-2.
