South Carolina losing veteran D-lineman to transfer portal as spring practice begins

South Carolina football is losing a defensive lineman from the roster less than a week before spring practice begins.

Senior Terrell Dawkins will be leaving the Gamecocks program, a school spokesman conformed to The State. 247Sports’ Chris Hummer was the first to report the news. Dawkins appeared in nine games in his two seasons at USC and recorded three tackles.

Dawkins played in the first five games for USC in 2023 but didn’t record a tackle.

Before USC, Dawkins played three seasons at North Carolina State and had 36 tackles in 2020.

Dawkins is the 22nd player to leave the program since the beginning of last season. USC added 16 players from the transfer portal since the 2023 season ended.

USC is coming off a 5-7 season and didn’t make a bowl.

The Gamecocks open spring practice on Tuesday.
