Speed investigated in crash that killed elderly pedestrian, say police
Police believe speed might have played a part in a fatal pedestrian crash that happened Tuesday morning in southeast Calgary.
Two pedestrians were in a marked crosswalk at 97th Avenue and Acadia Drive S.E. at about 11 a.m. when they were struck by a northbound 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck, police say.
An 83-year-old woman died at the scene. A 21-year-old woman remains in hospital in serious condition.

Investigators believe speed might have been a factor, but that drugs and alcohol were not, police said.
The 46-year-old man driving the pickup truck was not injured.
