Staley Falcons boys basketball team will play for Missouri state championship Saturday

Staley will play for the Missouri Class 6 championship in boys high school basketball on Saturday in Springfield.

The Falcons trounced the Jackson Mules 68-42 in Friday’s state semifinals at Great Southern Bank Arena.

Cameron Manyawu led the way with 18 points, Kyan Evans added 15 and Jared Lee chipped in 14 as Staley won comfortably. The Falcons led 20-7 after one quarter and 43-20 at halftime.

Staley (29-2) will play Kickapoo of Springfield for the title on Saturday at 2 p.m. Kickapoo (23-8) beat Troy Buchanan 53-33 in Friday’s other boys Class 6 semifinal.

Also Friday, Pembroke Hill lost 58-54 to Cardinal Ritter, and Vashon beat Central (Park Hills) 64-37 for the Class 4 boys championship.

St. Joseph Benton beat Central (Park Hills) 55-48 in Thursday’s semifinals but fell 79-77 to Vashon on Friday in a double-overtime showdown for the Class 4 girls state title.

The Raytown girls team lost to Incarnate Word 67-29 in the Class 6 semifinals on Friday.

Raytown will square off against Eureka on Saturday in the third-place game at noon on Saturday.

Incarnate Word will face Columbia Rock Bridge for the championship.
