Star Wars fans rebel against the cold to see Rogue One in Charlottetown

Charlottetown Star Wars fans must have felt like they were on the frozen planet of Hoth as they braved the cold on Friday to see Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

But despite the frigid temperatures, fans stuck around to see the opening of the first standalone movie in the franchise set before events in the first Star Wars movie released in 1977.

In the newest entry, Jyn Erso — played by Felicity Jones — joins the Rebel Alliance after learning her father is involved with the Empire's new weapon, the Death Star. Erso and a band of rebels embark on a mission to capture the Death Star plans.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is playing at Charlottetown's Cineplex Cinemas on University Avenue.
