The release date of Prime Video's remake of the action thriller Mr and Mrs Smith has been delayed.
The reimagining of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's 2005 film was originally intended to land on the streaming service in November, however, the series has now been moved to early 2024.
In Amazon's retelling of the story, the pair have given up their identity for a marriage of convenience. "Meet the Smiths: Two strangers, John and Jane, who have given up their identities to be thrown together as partners—in espionage and in marriage," the official synopsis reads.
"Matched by a mysterious agency, each episode follows them on a new mission and new milestone in their relationship. When the cracks begin to show through, they must fight to stay together. Because in this marriage, divorce is not an option."
Co-created and executive produced by Glover and Francesca Sloane (Atlanta, Fargo), the series also stars Jon Turturro (Severance), Michaela Coel (I May Destroy You), Parker Posey and Paul Dano (The Batman).
Meanwhile, Glover is currently tipped to be reprising his role as Lando Calrissian in an upcoming Star Wars spin-off. Originally conceived as a television series, it is now being made into a movie, written by Glover and his brother Stephen.
Speaking about the project to GQ Magazine back in April, the actor confirmed that he is in talks with Lucasfilm. "We're talking about it. That's as much as I can say without [Lucasfilm president] Kathleen Kennedy hunting me down," he said.
Mr and Mrs Smith premieres in 2024, streaming on Prime Video.
