‘Stranger Things’ Producer Teases Season 5 Saying It’s “As Big As Any Of The Biggest Movies We See”

The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is highly anticipated as it will finally wrap up the show and producer Shawn Levy is teasing what’s ahead for the citizens of Hawkins.

“There’s no way to be contiguous with season 4, and not, frankly, expand scale and depth,” Levy told Total Film magazine. “It’s major, major, cinematic storytelling that happens to be called a TV series. Stranger Things 5 is as big as any of the biggest movies that we see.”

Filming for the final season of the Netflix sci-fi series has been on hold due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Before the strike, the stars of the show had expressed that they also felt it was time to wrap up the series.

“It does feel like it’s time. It won’t be easy for it to end,” Joe Keery told Women’s Wear Daily in an interview before the SAG-AFTRA strike. “I mean, I owe my whole career to being on that show and all the opportunities that I had since are because of that show.”

David Harbour said ending the show was “bittersweet” but ultimately felt it was time to conclude it too.

“What’s funny is when I started the show, I never ever wanted it to end. That’s why I love the show. I think it’s a great show, even if I wasn’t in it,” he told Discussing Film in an interview. “Now we’re almost nine years from filming the first season, and I think it is time for it to end.”

Millie Bobby Brown was also ready to move on telling WWD, “I think I’m ready. It’s been such a huge factor in part of my life, but it’s like graduating high school, it’s like senior year. You’re ready to go and blossom and flourish and you’re grateful for the time you’ve had, but it’s time to create your own message and live your own life.”
